A pedestrian, believed to be intoxicated, was killed in a hit-and-run crash.

The incident happened around 3:35 a.m. Saturday in the 2000 block of Charlotte Avenue.

Reports stated the pedestrian, identified as 29-year-old Kayla D. Anderson, of Sparta, was with a friend at the Shell market when she allegedly walked away.

Her friend told police Anderson was intoxicated, and a witness reported hearing tires sequel and a woman scream.

Anderson was found after being hit. She was taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where she passed away.

Authorities said it appears Anderson had been lying in the road when she was hit based on her injuries.

Anyone with information on the vehicle that hit her has been asked to call the Emergency Communications Center at 615-862-8600 or Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463.
