Nashville health officials said they’re investigating a possible scabies outbreak involving more than a dozen inmates.

Brian Todd with the Metro Health Department said the possible outbreak involves 20-25 women at CoreCivic.

CoreCivic officials contacted the health department to check it out. All of the women at the facility were receiving treatment, even though they’re not positive it’s scabies.

They said test results are pending.

As a precaution, Mental Health Court Judge Melissa Blackburn has canceled her mental health docket for Thursday afternoon and Friday.

Judge Gale Robinson also said they aren't bringing over any of the more than 300 female inmates at CoreCivic to the Birch Building. He said the courts decided to keep them away after meeting with the health department.

Robinson added that he doesn't want to put any of the employees or people coming to court in danger of being infected.
