Mars Petcare will be covering adoption fees Friday and Saturday in hopes of finding homes for the thousands of animals up for adoption throughout Middle Tennessee.

In Middle Tennessee alone, more than ten thousand animals become available for adoption each year.

On Friday and Saturday only people can stop by several shelters in the area and take home your new pet for free.

"All the shelters are crowded in the summer time so this Mars event comes at an absolutely perfect time for us," said Debbie Sims. "We have an abundance of kittens, adult cats, dogs, and some puppies here."

Mars Petcare is offering free adoptions at the Williamson County Animal Center, Metro Animal Care and Control, and the Nashville Humane Association this Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Mars will also be handing out "wag bags" to all new pet owners with educational information and pet food samples.
