A local man who survived an armed robbery has asked others to buy a surveillance system for added protection for their homes.

On May 16th, Freddy Sherrell said he and his girlfriend were getting ready to sleep when a woman knocked on their door at Shady Hills mobile home park on Dickerson Pike.

Sherell's surveillance video caught the suspects on camera and now East Precinct detectives are working to identify one woman and three men.

"The girl, and she was like somebody named Chris sent me. I was like I don't know nobody named Chris," Sherrell said.

The female suspect knocked on the door at 9:15 p.m.

Sherrell answered the door and while he spoke to the woman, police said three gunmen got out of a maroon four door sedan and forced entry into the home.

One of them repeatedly struck the male victim in the head with a handgun. They ordered the female victim to lie on the bed and held a gun to her head.

The suspects fled with jewelry, a purse, wallet, and other items.

Sherrell said he's planning on getting stitches removed from his head this week. His girlfriend is still shaken up.

"Like twice a day I have noticed that she checks to make sure all the windows are shut,"

He said he's thankful he was able to get the suspect on camera and hopes someone recognizes them.

"Everybody needs them. Some type of shape, form or fashion," he said.

The female suspect, who appears to be in her 20s, is white with blond hair. She is approximately 5’5” tall and weighs approximately 110 pounds.

All three male suspects are black and appear to be in their mid-20s. The gunman who struck the male victim has short twists in his hair. He is approximately 5’7” tall.

The suspect who held a gun to the female victim’s head has a fade hair style.  He is approximately 5’8” tall. The third gunman is approximately six feet tall.

Anyone recognizing the suspects from the video surveillance clips linked below is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 615-742-7463. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and qualify for a cash reward.
