A Storm 5 Alert has been issued for Thursday and Friday as Tropical Storm Cindy pushes heavy rain and the threat for severe weather into Middle Tennessee.

The storm was expected to create a risk of flooding and isolated tornadoes for both days.

Tropical Storm Cindy made landfall in southwestern Louisiana Thursday morning.

Thursday's threat for severe weather was low but still brought a few strong storms with heavy rains and strong winds to the area in the morning.

Relief came later that evening when the rain tapered off to scattered showers. However, it was the calm before the storm because Friday's chance for severe weather was a bit higher.

Meteorologist, Bree Smith said Friday looks like it will be an "all day and all night soaker." There's a possibility for flooding, strong winds and isolated tornadoes.

The severe risk will be between the hours of 1 p.m. and 9 p.m.

After the two full days of storms, the rainfall totals are expected to be anywhere from 2" to 5" with some areas possibly seeing more.

Saturday morning will still be soggy with showers exiting to the East by early afternoon with pleasant weather for the rest of the weekend.
