Two people killed in a motorcycle crash on Interstate 440 have been identified.

According to reports, the motorcycle was traveling Saturday afternoon on Interstate 440 and crashed at the Interstate 24 overpass where it splits for Interstate 24 and Interstate 40, just southeast of Nashville. Reports stated the crash happened when the driver lost control for unknown reasons.

A female passenger, identified as 56-year-old Laurie M. Baker, was thrown and landed on Interstate 440. Reports stated her husband, identified as 58-year-old Mark Patrick Baker, was thrown over the wall onto Interstate 24 where he was hit by a tractor-trailer.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene.

Authorities said no witnesses spoke with police, so it was unknown which victim was driving the motorcycle at the time of the crash. There was no indication of alcohol or drug involvement in the wreck.

The roadway was closed to eastbound traffic on Interstate 440 in that area, and the roadway was also closed to westbound traffic on Interstate 24.

Crews said the roadway was cleared by 10 p.m.
