More than $1 million worth of heroin was seized when authorities searched a semi on Interstate 24 in Kentucky.

According to Kentucky State Police, the troopers stopped a tractor trailer shortly before 7 p.m. Monday in Lyon County for a vehicle inspection.

They found a small amount of heroin in the cab, which led to the arrest of the driver, 29-year-old Roberto Orozco and his passenger, 50-year-old Alberto Leal-Martinez.

Thirty-three pounds of heroin were found when the semi was searched. The heroin has an estimated street value of $1.5 million.

Troopers said both men are from Utah. They were charged with aggravated trafficking in heroin and booked into the Caldwell County Jail.
