Sheriff Daron Hall announced a reduction in inmate calling rates from 13 cents per minute to 5 cents per minute.

Hall made the announcement Monday in a press conference. The change made Davidson County's calling rates the lowest in the state and one of the lowest in the country.

"I have received hundreds of phone calls over the years with families regarding the burdens and stress the impact of incarceration has on all the members of the family. Most of us forget the financial impact associated - from the court costs to the bonds, to fines and legal fees. It is the reason we're doing this today," said Hall.

Sherriff Hall said the change will also give inmates an incentive to change.
