NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Five adults are displaced following a house fire that happened in North Nashville overnight.

The fire took place around 1:30 a.m. on the 1800 block of Scovel Street. According to the Nashville Fire Department, the house is a single-family home, but has multiple rooms rented out to multiple tenants.

When crews arrived, they found heavy smoke and flames. All of the tenants had already managed to escape the blaze.

While neighbors called with concerns that the fire was spreading to their homes, the fire was contained to the one house and extinguished.

One woman was taken to Nashville General Hospital with injuries that aren't fatal.

The Red Cross has been called to assist those who are displaced.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Editor's note: A previous version of this story reported that one family had been displaced. This was inaccurate information, and has been corrected.
