A Tennessee Department of Highways crew found the body of a hit and run victim Monday afternoon along Interstate-40 in Wilson County.

The victim was identified as 34-year-old Randy Hammer.

Officials with the Tennessee Highway Patrol said Hammer was struck and killed by a Dodge Durango driven by James Cross III.

The accident happened near the highway 109 exit in the early morning hours Saturday, but Hammer's body wasn't found until Monday.

State Troopers said it was a hit and run, but the investigation into the death was ongoing. So far, no charges have been filed in the case.
