Officials said they’re searching for two suspects who ran from a murder victim’s truck after it crashed.
Authorities said the wreck happened around 11 p.m. Saturday. The Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck crashed into the parking lot of Quarters Inn and Suites on Bell Road near Interstate 24.
Officials said they found 26-year-old Demareus Merriweather unresponsive. He was rushed to Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Doctors discovered Merriweather had been shot in the torso. He died from his injuries.
According to reports, two pistols were recovered from the truck. Authorities said one of them was reported stolen out of Rutherford County.
Reports stated surveillance video captured the crash in which the truck entered the parking lot at a high rate of speed, struck several parked cars, and then came to a stop.
The video also showed two men who got out of the truck and ran toward Cane Ridge Road.
