Police confirmed a suspect wanted for child rape in La Vergne has been taken into custody in Rutherford County.

Officials with La Vergne Police said 36-year-old John E. Lamb was caught in the act by a relative. When that person called 911, Lamb reportedly fled the scene.

The alleged incident happened around midnight Thursday on Dollar Drive in the Cedar Glen Trailer Park.

For hours, police conducted a search in the area and the nearby woods, but were forced to suspend it.

Thursday, just an hour before his capture, those with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said Lamb had been added to the Top 10 Most Wanted list.

Lamb was spotted walking down Old Nashville Highway by officers with the La Vergne Police Department. He was arrested around 3 p.m. Thursday.

He's also been accused of threatening the lives of the victim and the victim's family.

According to police, Lamb has a criminal history including assault, making terroristic threats, and escape.
