Fire crews in Murfreesboro worked during the overnight hours to put out a fire at a vacant home.

The incident happened just before midnight, early Sunday morning, at a two-story home in the 800 block of North Church Street.

Reports stated flames were shooting from the roof when crews arrived at the scene.

Firefighters were initially sent inside, but they were quickly pulled out. Crews then attacked the fire from the outside to knock it down.

After conditions were deemed safer, officials said they re-entered the home to put the fire out completely.

The home was vacant, and no injuries were reported.

“The fire was contained to the upstairs, which is where we believe the fire started,” said Acting Shift Commander Mark McCluskey. “The downstairs did not receive fire damage, but received smoke, heat, and water damage.”

Authorities conducted an investigation at the scene. The cause of the fire remained unknown.
