Police have been searching for the person responsible for shooting and killing a man in Bellevue.

"He didn't deserve to die. Billy Ray Plunk was a good man," Zachary Plunk, brother of 29-year-old Billy Ray Plunk, said. "Anyone you asked would say he's a good guy."

Billy Ray was a son, a brother, and a father who was a wrestling standout in high school. According to his brother, he had no bones to pick with anyone, but on Saturday morning, someone took his life.

Around 5 a.m. on Saturday, Billy Ray and Zachary woke up and went to the store to purchase a drink. When the two drove home to their new apartment in the Iroquois complex, they were confronted by a man with a gun, who calmly asked Zachary to give him everything he had, to which Zachary replied "no."

"He kept backing up, and he looked at my brother and said, 'How about you? Give me everything you've got,'" Zachary said, adding that Billy Ray refused to give the man anything.

As the man walked away, Billy Ray went to look at the license plate of the car being driven by the suspect.

"My brother told him, 'Okay big boy, I got your tags. You're not going to make it far.'" Zachary explained, adding that is when the shooter leaned out from the passenger's side of the car and fired, hitting Billy Ray. "My brother fell. He shot him again, and he got back into the car, and that's when they sped off."

Billy Ray was shot in the back and in the side. One of the bullets pierced Billy Ray's heart.

Zachary panicked, he chased after the car, then ran back to his brother where he tried to stop the bleeding.

"The last words my brother said was 'Help me.' He died in my arms," Zachary said.

Zachary said the shooter was hard to identify. He was wearing a red bandana and a flat-bill hat. All that was visible were the man's eyes. Eyes Zachary said he hopes to see again, so he can bring his brother justice.

"The little thing about when you die and the lights leave your eyes? That's so real, it's real," Zachary explained. "He was there, then he wasn't."

A GoFundMe has been set up to help pay for Billy Ray's funeral, you can donate by clicking here.

Anyone with information about the murder of Billy Ray has been asked to call police.
