Dozens of fisherman hit the waters of Percy Priest Lake to honor Eric Mumaw, a fallen officer with the Metro Nashville Police Department.

The fishermen participated in the "Fishing for Blue" kayak tournament hosted by Caney Fork Outdoors.

All the money raised from the event was set to go to The Andrew Jackson Police Youth Camp that Officer Mumaw helped at every year.

"It was a cause that he really believed in and was very passionate about," Sergeant Robert Weaver told NewsChannel 5. "He enjoyed helping the kids."

Officer Mumaw worked out of the Madison precinct. He passed away from drowning in February while trying to save a woman from the Cumberland River.

"You never get over it, you learn to live with it, and that's where we are in the process of doing. You remember that smile and moments that are dear to you with someone you miss," Sgt. Weaver added.

The event raised $4,100 for the youth camp.

About 60 fishermen competed in the tournament including Michael Ernst who won first place.

"To be able to come out to fish a tournament and raise money for a good cause is really cool," Ernst said.
