Man Missing After Truck Found In Woods By I-40

A 61-year-old man has been missing after his vehicle was reportedly found empty but running in the woods beside the interstate.

Detectives with the Mt. Juliet Police Department said they’re hoping to find Charles Howell Brooks, of Nashville, safe after finding his truck in the woods off of Interstate 40 near mile marker 224.

Police responded to the scene around 10:35 a.m. May 10 where they found the truck empty but running with the driver’s door open.

Authorities discovered Brooks was the registered owner of the truck. He was nowhere to be found.

Officials searched the wooded area and contacted Brooks’ family and friends. According to reports, no one had seen him.

Brooks had last been seen around 7 p.m. May 8. Evidence also placed him at the Walmart on Charlotte Pike in Nashville around 10:30 p.m. May 9 where he bought prepaid phone cards.
