Officials with the Lebanon Police Department are searching for the culprit believed to have stolen various items from the grave sites of children.

Last month, police received a report from Marsha Sartain stating that someone took the decorative items off of her three children's graves at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

At first she thought weather was to blame but the items included metal heart stakes, signs and lights.

"It was intentionally taken, the lights were intentionally broken. It's nothing fancy or true value but it's valuable to me because it's for my children," Sartain told NewsChannel 5. "I don't get to do Easter baskets or Santa Claus but I get to decorate their graves."

Sartain's three children are buried at the cemetery. Two of them died of a rare form of dwarfism and her third was a premature baby.

"It's truly just God's grace and peace, that's the only way anybody can get through this with sanity," Sartain added.

Sartain posted to Facebook and received some replies from people saying items have also been stolen from their loved ones' grave sites.

Many on social media described the crime as an all-time low. Sartain said she is worried about what may happen in the future and has warned whoever is responsible that she is on alert.

"They have some pretty hard hearts and they just need lots and lots of prayer and grace," she said.

The incident has since been reported to the police department who is offering a $500 reward for information that leads to an arrest.
