Photos: Hurricane Matthew torments Florida's coast

Hurricane Matthew is battering the Florida coast and hurricane warnings have been extended to cover a large portion of the state's Atlantic coast. 

Hurricane Matthew made landfall in Haiti on Tuesday morning as a major Category 4 hurricane. The storm has been downgraded to a Category 3.   

The forecast show that the hurricane is a threat to make landfall on the East Coast of the United States.

The last major hurricane to hit the United States was Hurricane Wilma, which hit Florida on Oct. 24, 2005.
