A new report placed Tennessee high up on a list the state doesn't want to be on.

The Kids Count Report from the Annie E. Casey foundation says one out of every ten children in Tennessee has a parent who has been behind bars, or is behind bars right now -- the third highest rate in the country.

Statistics show that the children of someone who is or has been in prison are 80 percent more likely to go to prison themselves later on.

“A lot of these kids are walking around with a lot of stress, a lot of anxiety, a lot of depression, and they start acting out, and that’s usually how they get involved in the system,” said Malinda Davenport Crisp with the Family Reconciliation Center.

While Tennessee ranked third in the state with 10 percent of kids having a parent who has been incarcerated, Kentucky led the list, with 13 percent.
