Wayne County Post Office Destroyed

The Lutts Post Office in Wayne County was destroyed when tornadoes hit Middle Tennessee.

Postal officials and emergency responders said the building at 8310 Lutts Road was demolished by the strong winds that swept through the area.

Fortunately, no employees were inside the building at the time of the impact. The Postal Inspection Service was dispatched to the area to secure the site.

Until further notice, Post Office Box customers can pick up their mail at the Collinwood Post Office, 101 4th Ave. South. Hours: 8:30-11 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday; 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday.

In addition to Collinwood, retail services will be available at these locations:

As a reminder, Post Offices nationwide will be open Christmas Eve, Thursday, Dec. 24, but many will shorten retail lobby hours and close at noon. Revised hours will be posted at each Post Office.

Post Offices will be closed Dec. 25 for the Christmas holiday. All Post Offices will be open and regular mail delivery will resume Dec. 26.
