A woman was critically injured when she was hit by a truck while walking on Nolensville Pike in South Nashville.

The hit-and-run crash happened around 3:45 p.m. at Nolensville Pike and Morton Avenue near area of the Nashville Zoo.

Investigators with the Metro Nashville Police Department said they are searching for the red Dodge pickup truck that drove away from the scene.

The victim was identified as 25-year-old Shelby Lacewell of Morton Avenue. Police said she had just gotten off of an MTA bus and activated the pedestrian walk signal when she was hit by the truck.

According to witnesses, Lacewell began crossing the road after the signal indicated she could walk, but was hit by the pickup which was turning left onto Nolensville Pike from Morton Avenue.

Police said the truck sustained front-end damage in the crash. It does have a ladder rack but no ladder on it.
