The Cheatham County community gathered together to pray for their leader, Mayor David McCullough, in a vigil.
Mayor McCullough is once again fighting cancer.
He was first diagnosed in July 2015 but after surgery and treatment was deemed cancer free until last Monday.
His wife, Megan McCullough, said David's cancer has returned aggressively, and there were no further options.
"We just wanted to let our mayor know that in the days ahead, his county that he has served over the years is here for him," said Valerie Dreier and Diana Lovell.
David's wife Megan said they've chosen to trust God through the uncertainty. Organizers will hold another vigil Wednesday night.
