Two bodies have been found in two burnt cars in Cheatham County in the last several weeks.

Early Monday morning nearly half a dozen vehicles blocked River Road at Pond Creek as the TBI investigated after a body was found in the trunk of a burnt car.

Body Found In Burned-Out Car On SR 251 In Cheatham County

Tim Reece said, "All we've heard so far is a car got ditched on the side of the road. On River Road and they found a body in a trunk. We don't know if it was male, female, we don't know nothing about it."

The white car was burnt. to a crisp. "It's just crazy," Reece said.

The TBI blocked the public's view with a barrier wall. They were unable to confirm if it was a murder investigation.

"We don't know if it's a homicide or what, seems like it is," said Reece.

Neighbors like him said it's a tight knit community near Ashland City.

"It's just a rural area, everybody knows everybody. Everybody knows everybody everybody waves at everybody," said Reece.

He thought they were coming in from a different area.

"More than likely they're ditching them down here ya know. My opinion. But I don't know," he said.

On September 9, another body was found in a burnt car on a dirt road. Some of the scorch marks were still visible not far off of Wiley Pardue Road.

The locations are about 5.5 miles apart.

"Yes it's suspicious? I mean wouldn't you think," said Reece.

The TBI could not confirm the cases are connected.

As scientists analyze the evidence, residents would like an answer to this mystery.

Reece said,  "We would like to know I mean what can you do? Our hands are tied."

According to a spokesperson for the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, neither body has been identified.

It's unclear if the vehicles were stolen. The Cheatham County Sheriff was unable to comment because this is a TBI investigation.

District Attorney Ray Crouch did not get back to us for comment on Wednesday.
