Buy One Amtrak Ticket, Get One Free When You Share A Roomette Or Bedroom

Posted at 12:04 PM, Jun 05, 2019

Ready to get away this summer? Get ready to pack your bags and board a train, because Amtrak is offering a buy one, get one free ticket deal for you and a friend that you won’t want to miss out on.

From now until June 10, you can book a trip for two and get one fare completely free. Your trip must take place between Aug. 1, 2019, and March 31, 2020, and both people’s tickets must be booked at the same time, on the same itinerary. The deal is available for those willing to share a bedroom or roomette — so choose your travel companion wisely.

The offer is valid for a variety of destinations. For example, those traveling from New York To Charleston, South Carolina, could get tickets for $323, or $161.50 per person. Meanwhile, passengers looking to go from Atlanta to New Orleans can ride for as little as $220, or $110 per person.

Booking A Trip

There are plenty of other cities included in this promotion, too. All you have to do to book a trip and see if the city you’re traveling to is included in the deal is head to the flash sale’s web page and enter your travel information. If your travel arrangements are eligible for savings, you’ll see “promo applied” under the final price, as you can see from this trial run:

Roomettes Vs. Bedrooms

Prices differ depending on if you and your travel buddy are sharing a roomette or a bedroom. To be sure you book what’s best for you, it’s important to know the difference between the two.

The Amtrak blog explains that a roomette is a private area well-suited for two people. By day, you can each sit together and have plenty of space to pull out your laptops and other gadgets. Then, when it’s time to get some shut-eye, the two seats come together to make a bed, and a bed pulls down from overhead as well. It’s like bunking when you were a kid. Who’s calling dibs on the top bunk?

A bedroom, on the other hand, might be better suited for longer distances, as it’s got plenty of room for two people plus any baggage you might have. There are two beds and even a private bathroom — so consider this your hotel en route!

Decide which type of traveling will work for you and your companion and get going! Book by June 10 to take advantage of this deal.

Happy travels!
