Pop culture fans don't need an illusive ticket to San Diego Comic-Con to hear from actors and creators this year. Due to the pandemic, the world's largest celebration of its kind canceled the in-person event scheduled for July 22-26 and will hold a free online version during that same time frame. It's called Comic-Con@Home.
In keeping with tradition, convention staff unveil the panel schedule exactly two weeks ahead of each day's event. This means you'll be able to see Wednesday, July 22's preview night panel lineup on Wednesday, July 8. Thursday's full day panel schedule will be available on July 9, and so on until all five days are announced. This year's virtual event will include more than 350 separate panels, so there is something for everyone's interests.
You can see San Diego Comic-Con@Home's lineup on its website, and it usually posts between 11 a.m. and noon for fans in the Central Time Zone. The schedule will include names and descriptions of events, but the content will not be available until its designated time. Virtual attendees can create a personalized plan online through Sched to keep track of interests and get alerts when panels begin.
All Comic-Con@Home panels will be streamed on its YouTube page for free. While some videos will be available to watch once the event ends, staff say some panels will have a time limit attached to them.
The virtual event also includes a vast online exhibition hall, where you can order fandom-themed gear and collectibles. Leading up to the event, the Comic-Con Museum is sharing coloring books and how-to videos for activities you can do at home, including building things like Thor's Hammer and R2D2 out of cardboard. Those are available now.
