Several school systems across Middle Tennessee and Southern Kentucky have closed Thursday due lingering icy conditions on many roads.

Snow fell in most of the area, with some neighborhoods seeing a thick, heavy dusting. Crews with the Tennessee Department of Transportation have been out on the roads, plowing and putting down salt.
Nearly all the public schools began closing in Middle Tennessee either Monday afternoon or early Tuesday morning.
