Experience Of A Lifetime At Music City Skydiving

Posted

Let me start by stating that I, Casie Mason, am truly terrified of heights. In fact, I have always been one of those people who said I would never go skydiving. I would even use that cliché phrase “why would anyone jump out of a perfectly good airplane?!” Let’s fast forward about 14-thousand feet and one tandem jump later, because now I’m singing a different tune. Yep, that’s right. I went skydiving!

First, let’s back up to how this whole thing came about. You may remember that time I did a Music City Must episode where I went on a hot air balloon ride with Bob Grimes. He introduced me to his friend Taylor, who owns a company of his own. That company is (you guessed it) Music City Skydiving! After several conversations with Taylor and a few months of decision making - I finally decided to just go for it! It was amazing!

Jumping with Taylor at Music City Skydiving was not only one of my favorite episodes ever, but one of the best experiences in my life! I was nervous the night before my jump, but the next day I showed up and was immediately calmed after meeting the team. The moment you walk into the airport hangar in Waverly, you know that you are in great hands. Everybody is experienced and knowledgeable, but also very fun. They know how to turn your nerves into excitement.

The location is the closest drop zone to Nashville. Taylor, fellow instructors, and a crew of regulars who refer to themselves as “fun jumpers,” skydive from this location every single weekend! (I just do laundry and catch up on tv shows.)

Taylor and the team get you suited-up and prepped for the thrill of a lifetime with a mix of humor and professionalism. Keep in mind people, Taylor is a pro with several thousands jumps to back it. The camera starts to roll and the airplane ascends. We ride up to about 14-thousand feet, followed by about sixty seconds of freefall, and four minutes under canopy.

We were getting close to the big moment. Taylor preps me one final time on my instructions, which I still do not remember to this day! Next thing I know, I’m being told to smile in 3…2…ahhh! Indescribable – that’s the only word TO describe this experience! Sorry friends, you just must try it for yourself. To me, it felt like a perfect mix of pure rush and peace. It was amazing to step outside of my comfort zone, but it was fun to land safe and sound and back on the ground with a story I can now tell forever!

Overall, Music City Skydiving safely creates a memorable experience of a lifetime every single weekend for thousands of thrill-seekers taking the plunge each year. It all takes place in an environment taken very seriously all while having some big fun along the way! Stepping through that door at 14,000 feet is a life changing experience. The biggest question people ask me is if I’ll ever jump again? I’ll I can say is, let me get back to you on that! I now dare you to make this a must and book your jump today! You’ll be glad you did!
