NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 10th-grader has been charged after he was found carrying a loaded 9 millimeter pistol on campus.

The incident happened Tuesday afternoon at Pearl Cohn High School just after dismissal.

Metro Police say the student walked to a car parked off-campus and was spotted putting an item into a backpack before walking back to campus.

School personnel searched the student and found the loaded gun in the backpack.

The 15-year-old student said he bought the gun on the street.

Metro Police say the teenager was then booked at Juvenile Detention.
