SPRINGFIELD, Tenn. (WTVF) — An arson investigation led to a 14-year-old being charged with attempted murder in Robertson County.

The incident happened Thursday night on Woodland Street in Springfield. The Springfield Fire Department says the suspect poured gas on the side of a home and tried to set fire to it.

Authorities identified the juvenile as a suspect in the case and questioned him. According to police, he also “openly” confessed to shooting Anthony Swoopes back in May.

He was arrested and charged with both arson and attempted murder. He’s being held at the Juvenile Detention Center until his trial date, which has not yet been set.

Police did not release his identity.
