ORLINDA, Tenn. (WTVF) — A teenager was seriously hurt over the weekend after being hit by an SUV in Robertson County.
According to Smokey Barn News, the incident happened just before 10 p.m. Saturday on Highway 49 near Brewer Road, just outside of downtown Orlinda.
First responders found the 14-year-old boy in the road. The extent of his injuries was unclear. He had to be lifeflighted to Vanderbilt Medical Center.
Highway 49 was closed for several hours while crews worked to figure out what happened.
NewsChannel 5 has reached out to the Tennessee Highway Patrol for more information. As of now, police haven't revealed exactly what happened leading up to the accident, or whether there have been any arrests.
Since then, the community hasn't wasted any time showing their support. Messages, tshirts and decals have been pouring in with the hashtag “tuff strong”
One friend, Jolene Fuqua says the family is hopeful that the son will get through this and she's asking for the community to keep holding onto that hope.
"I just hope everyone can lift them up however they need to bring them good news and peace," said Fuqua.
Friends tell us they plan to have a bake sale and silent aunction with proceeds going to the family. We'll post the details once we learn it.
