NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — 17 guns were stolen in vehicle burglaries last week, according to Nashville Metro police.
A review made by Metro police of vehicle burglaries that took place between March 31 and April 6 shows that 32 of the 47 vehicles that were stolen were easy targets. This is either because the keys were left inside of the vehicles were left unlocked.
The review of the report also shows that 17 guns were also stolen in burglaries. The vehicles in three of those burglaries were unlocked.
"Park Smart" is an ongoing campaign from police strongly urging drivers to lock their vehicle's doors, remove the keys and secure any valuables inside, including guns, when leaving your vehicle. Police also advise against leaving purses or other valuables in shopping carts while shopping.
