MADISON, Tenn. – Police said a suspect has been taken into custody in the fatal shooting of a 15-year-old.
According to authorities, 17-year-old Davone Kentae Starks was arrested in connection with the murder of 15-year-old Kenneth A. Jones who was fatally shot Thursday night.
Jones was found behind the Forrest Park Apartments at 400 Forest Park Road.
Officials said Starks’ name surfaced Friday during the investigation.
Detectives said they believe the shooting occurred during the attempted purchase of a firearm.
The investigation was ongoing.
"Another life is gone," said Camilla Jones, Jones' cousin. "This has to stop. The violence -- teen violence -- has to stop. You know this was a senseless murder, and we're hurting."
Family and friends of Jones said a candlelight vigil was set for 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Madison Little League Baseball Park on Forest Park Road. They said the event was being held to honor Jones' life.
