RIDGELY, Tenn. (WTVF) — A 2.9 earthquake was reported Monday evening in West Tennessee.
According to the U.S. Geological Survey, the quake was recorded around 7:38 p.m. about 1.2 miles northwest of Ridgely.
At 2.9, the quake was likely felt in the region -- anything 3.0 or greater is considered to be a minor earthquake.
The USGS says the New Madrid seismic zone, which is located in southeast Missouri and surrounding states is the most seismically active in North America east of the Rockies.
