2 Arrested After Police Car Rammed By Stolen Vehicle

Two men have been arrested after a convicted felon rammed into a marked police car with a stolen vehicle.

The incident happened just before noon Sunday in the an alleyway in the 800 block of Garfield Street in the Cheatham Place public housing development.

Reports state 25-year-old Dashawn Slone has been facing multiple charges in the crime.

Authorities said officers spotted Slone in a 2014 Chevrolet Malibu that had been reported stolen in that area.

As Slone went into the alleyway, the officers drove in as well, and Slone quickly accelerated, ramming into the police car.

Officials said the vehicle Slone was driving was disabled on impact.

Slone and his 18-year-old passenger, Malik Jones, were arrested.

Police said they seized two loaded handguns, one which had been reported stolen, from the Malibu.

The officer in the rammed police car was not injured.

Slone and Jones were both charged with aggravated assault against an officer, felony theft, theft, and criminal trespassing. 

Slone was also charged with marijuana possession and felon in possession of a handgun.

Authorities confirmed Slone had previous convictions for aggravated assault, domestic assault, aggravated burglary, drug possession, and theft. He was being held in lieu of a $87,500 bond.

Jones was being held in lieu of a $52,500 bond.
