Students have been gearing up for a new school year, and for many of them, that also means preparing to deal with bullies.

It's a growing concern for kids who struggle to fit in at school. On Sunday, about 500 runners and walkers took on a 5K course at Crockett Park.

Joggers raised money and awareness for the Upstander Program.

Upstanders are students who team up with victims of bullying to offer support, guidance, and friendship.

Organizers of Sunday's 5K have planned to make it an annual event. They're also working on establishing Upstander Programs in every area high school. Learn more about upstanders here.
