The shooting happened in a home at 321 Dandelion Drive in Lebanon on April 24. A 10-year-old was holding a shotgun when he accidentally shot himself in the abdomen.

His older brother was home with him at the time, and called 911. The call went to the Wilson County call center in which the dispatcher said she would call for an ambulance, and then transferred the child to Lebanon dispatch.

The boy said, "My brother shot himself, and we're home alone." Yelling from can be heard in the background throughout the call.

"He did it on accident. he was just looking at it...," the boy said, before the dispatcher cut him off to ask for his name.

The children’s parents were notified shortly after and met the child at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

The 10-year-old was in stable condition, and officials said medical staff were encouraged by his prognosis.
