Aircraft makes emergency landing in Rutherford County

RUTHERFORD COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — No injuries were reported after a pilot flying a Cessna 162 airplane made an emergency landing in Rutherford County this morning.

According to the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office, the pilot from Murfreesboro and a passenger were flying when the plane stalled out and failed to restart.

The emergency landing was made on a field near Rucker Road around 10 a.m.

"The plane was flying from Murfreesboro to Shelbyville when the emergency happened and the pilot called, 'Mayday,'" Rutherford County Sheriff's Office Sergeant Bryant Gregory said.

Representatives with the Federal Aviation Administration are responding. Deputies with the sheriff's office and Rutherford County Fire and Rescue are also on the scene.
