Alert Neighbor Helps Police Nab Break-in Suspects

MADISON, Tenn. – Two burglary suspects were taken into custody Monday after a short standoff at a Davidson County home.

Zamar Redmond, a 22-year-old convicted robber and 24-year-old Michael Tate are facing aggravated burglary and vandalism charges.

Officers from the Metro Nashville Police Department responded to a home on Pewter Court in Madison around 1 p.m. Monday after a neighbor called, saying there were two unknown men acting suspiciously behind the home.

Before officers arrived on the scene, the suspects broke through a back window and entered the home. Once the arrived, police could see the two men peeking out of a window.

Officers surrounded the house and called SWAT teams and an aviation unit to the home. Deputies from the Davidson County Sheriff's Officer were also called in to assist. 

After about an hour, SWAT officers entered the home and took the two men into custody.

The home owners were not there at the time.

At the time of Monday's arrest, Redmond was free on bond from an arrest back in March. Those charges include evading arrest and cocaine posses ion.

Redmond and Tate are both behind bars on $80,000 bond.
