DICKSON, Tenn. – A 21-year-old burglary suspect suffered cuts to his hand and foot after authorities said he smashed his way into a Dickson County home.

The incident was reported August 1, at a home on Highway 96 in Burns.

Officials arrived on the scene and said the home’s sliding glass door had been shattered, along with two windows.

The suspect reportedly left blood in the driveway and yard after apparently cutting himself on the glass.

Dickson County Sheriff’s officials said Avery Scott Laughlin, of Fairview, was taken into custody after a short foot pursuit.

Laughlin told officers that he was involved in a fight at a nearby party.

He was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, felony vandalism, vandalism, evading arrest and public intoxication. Bond was set at $8,000.
