NASHVILLE, Tenn (WTVF) — The man accused of dragging a Metro Nashville police sergeant down Broadway on his ATV is fighting a similar case in Philadelphia.

Walter Moss is accused of running over a Philadelphia police officer back in October of 2018. Court documents show that on October 14, Moss hit an officer with an ATV and then continued to drive with the officer stuck under his wheel.

Officers were working the city’s ATV dirt bike confiscation detail because of a ride-out. A detective observed approximately 1000 dirt bikes and ATV's operating recklessly on the streets of Philadelphia.

The dirt bikes and ATV's were attempted to be stopped by several Philadelphia police. The dirt bikes and ATV's fled at a high rate of speed in a large pack of approximately 800-1000 disregarding red lights, stop signs, driving down the sidewalks causing pedestrians to jump out of the way, driving into oncoming traffic causing vehicular traffic to swerve out of the way.

After they stopped, officers exited their patrol car and approached Moss who was operating a Honda ATV that just hit a police car.

Officers ordered Moss to get off the vehicle. He allegedly started it up and tried to drive away, he hit the officer’s right leg and ran over his right foot. The officer grabbed him and with assistance and placed him under arrest.

Moss is still awaiting trial for this case and he faces several charges, aggravated assault, fleeing or attempting to elude an officer and recklessly endangering another person.

About a month after this incident, Moss was arrested in his hometown of Springfield, Tennessee.

Robertson County Sheriff's officers executed a search warrant at Moss’ home. Detectives said they found 50 grams of marijuana packages for selling, digital scales and $454 in cash. Moss reportedly resisted arrest and was trying to get away from officers when he kicked a lawnmower that fell on top of a detective.

Moss has a criminal history that stretches as far back as a decade.

Moss was scheduled to appear in court Friday morning for dragging Sgt. John Bourque down Broadway on his ATV and driving on a revoked license and evading arrest.
