MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) - Three students and two adults are in custody after authorities say they assaulted a Shelby County Sheriff's deputy at a Memphis high school.

Local media report that the incident occurred during a sit-down meeting on Tuesday at Booker T. Washington High School with the school's principal to try to resolve a dispute between two families.

Sheriff's spokesman Chip Washington says 28-year-old Marsheka Benton became upset during the meeting and refused to leave.

Authorities say that while the deputy attempted to detain Benton, the deputy was attacked by the other suspects, including a 15-year-old girl who authorities say attempted to take the deputy's weapon.

The 15-year-old was charged with aggravated assault. Marsheka Benton, 33-year-old Latrisha Readus and two other juveniles, were charged with simple assault. It's unclear if they have attorneys.
