SMYRNA, Tenn. (AP) — The Tennessee Highway Patrol is asking the public for help as it investigates an apparent hit-and-run that left a woman dead.
The agency tweeted that it received a call on Saturday reporting a woman's body in a ditch along Interstate 24 in Rutherford County. The agency said it appears a vehicle hit a pedestrian, and the body was recovered in an area that would be extremely difficult to spot from the roadway.
Agency spokesman Lt. Bill Miller said that authorities are trying to determine what happened. He said no additional details were available, but officials hope that someone might have seen something and will report it.
