LAWRENCE COUNTY, Tenn. (WTVF) — Wonderful news for Baby Addilyn. It’s official: This sweet little girl now has a loving new family.

So many of you have followed Addilyn’s journey.

She was beaten nearly to death this past January in Lawrence County, Tennessee. The child had broken bones, internal bleeding and swelling on the brain.

Doctors worried she wouldn’t make it, but Addilyn fought to survive.

Her father was charged with attempted murder. Her mother charged with aggravated child neglect. Both are locked up awaiting trial.

And now both are no longer Addilyn’s legal parents.

The Woodard family cared for Addilyn since she was released from the hospital and now they have officially adopted her. This is a blessing for both Addilyn and the Woodards.

The 10-month old still has a long road to recovery. Her optic nerve was damaged from the beating and she remains blind. There is concern about brain damage. But the family is determined to overcome all obstacles.
