Fire officials said a lightning strike may have caused a house fire in the West Meade area of Nashville.

The fire broke out in a two-story brick home at 6143 Robin Hill Road Monday around noon.

One firefighter was injured and taken to the hospital. It was not clear how he was burned, but he was treated for burns to his hand.

We have a crew at the scene and will update this story as soon as more information becomes available.

Crews called for backup to help fight the flames. The fire caused extensive damage to the roof and attic.

Neighbors spotted the flames and called 911 since the homeowner was not home at the time.

The fire captain told NewsChannel 5 the fire appeared to be caused by a lightning strike, but he said he was not ruling out any other causes.
