Belmont University celebrated its 125th year Monday.
The second largest private college in the state marked the year with a number of events and activities.
They unveiled a new mosaic honoring the university’s birthday.
Local artist James Threalkill created the artwork as a reflection of the thriving campus.
The unveiling was scheduled for Monday because of the date; January 25th, or 1/25. Threalkill told the crowd he was honored to be asked to commission the work.
"The pride is universal with this community. The pride that the students have in the Bruins and the student organizations. The pride that the faculty has in the service that they're providing to the students,” he said.
Belmont's 125th anniversary celebration also included community service, a "Diversity Week," and the publishing of a book detailing the school's unique history.
