Local musicians raised money for Hurricane Matthew victims in North Carolina by playing a benefit concert at City Winery in Nashville.

Several Louisiana-born musicians played the benefit Thursday night.

Organizers said that after living through the Nashville flood of May 2010, they had to do something to help, and those with NOLA roots felt the same way after living through Katrina.

"Absolutely I mean when I first saw it and realized the devastation, I remembered what we went through. I remembered how much we had to do to get our community back on it's feet and in a lot of places our community is still suffering from that flood; so anything that we can do that will help these folks you know I just read it and I thought man I have to do something," said Gina Hughes.
