NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A new "country" song, "Old Town Road," is making waves in the charts and the country music genre, because people are asking "is it country enough?"
The song took off on the Tik-Tok app and gained even more attention after it was mentioned on Justin Bieber's instagram, and when the Texas Tech men's basketball team celebrated one of their wins in the NCAA tournament.

However, Rolling Stone noticed the song had been removed from Billboard's Hot Country Songs chart.
According to the report, Billboard informed Lil Nas X’s label, Columbia Records, that his inclusion on the ranking was a mistake, according to an insider with knowledge of the matter who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
In a statement released to Rolling Stone, the publication said that “upon further review, it was determined that ‘Old Town Road’ by Lil Nas X does not currently merit inclusion on Billboard‘s country charts....While ‘Old Town Road’ incorporates references to country and cowboy imagery, it does not embrace enough elements of today’s country music to chart in its current version.”
But the removal didn't stop Lil Nas X. On Friday, he teamed up with country star, Billy Ray Cyrus, for a remix.
