A heartbroken community remembered a 5-year-old’s life in Dickson County.
A birthday celebration was held for Joe Clyde Daniels. He would have been turning six years old this coming Monday.
Joe Clyde's father is accused of killing him and hiding his body, and the little boy still hasn't been found.
It has been 3 months since Joe Clyde went missing. Organizers gathered the community together for the early birthday celebration to honor the little boy’s life.
At 6:15 p.m. Saturday they released balloons and bubbles in honor of his memory.
His parents -- Joseph and Krystal -- are accused of murdering their son. Police said his father confessed to beating baby Joe and then hiding his body, but he won't tell investigators where.
Since the killing, authorities and volunteers have spent countless hours searching rural parts of Dickson County for Joe Clyde, but Saturday was about remembering his life.
“He’s loved a lot around here, and any and everybody that you see or talk to, you mentioned his name, the first thing they say is, ‘He always had a smile on his face all the time,’” said Twila Sisco.
Both parents are expected to stand trial separately in 2019. Joseph is charged with five counts, including murder. Krystal is charged with aggravated child abuse, neglect, and hindering the investigation.
A playground has been planned and is in the fundraising phase in honor and memory of Joe Clyde. To help out, click here.
