An investigation into a body found in North Georgia has reached to Tennessee with the body being identified as a Nashville resident.

Officials said they believe the crime took place in Tennessee, but the body was then driven to Georgia to be disposed of.

The body was identified as 26-year-old Luis Antonio Lopez of Nashville. He was found in early January in Whitfield County Georgia.

According to officials, it appeared the body had been placed at the location and partially burned less than 24-hours before it was discovered.

His family had reported him missing in Tennessee shortly after the body was discovered.

Investigators from the Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation have been traveling to Nashville for the last few weeks and working with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and other Tennessee law enforcement officials on the case.
