NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — A body has been located by a man who was out looking for his friend in Hermitage on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Hermitage Police Precinct, a man who was trying to locate his friend after not seeing him for several days went to a wooded area where he knew the victim kept a camp.
After walking around the area for several hours, the man discovered a body that had been severely burned just off Stewarts Ferry Pike.
Police say it appears the victim was inside his tent with a propane can heater. The fire destroyed everything inside the tent as well as possibly killed the victim.
The fire was, however, contained to the tent area.
Due to the injuries on the body, it is undetermined at this time if the victim sustained any trauma or foul play prior to the fire.
The investigation is ongoing.
